Some clinics are able to offer a telephone or video consultation option for certain appointments. This means you don't have to physically visit hospital for your appointment.
If you have been offered a video appointment, choose the appropriate link to take you there. It will also be on your appointment letter.
What to expect on your video call
Your video appointment will use our Attend Anywhere system. The following video explains what to expect.
You don't need to create an account to use this service. Simply use the link provided. You will also need:
- A good connection to the internet. If you can watch a video online, such as on YouTube, you can make a video call
- A private, well-lit area where you will not be disturbed during the consultation
- One of these:
- Google Chrome web browser on a desktop or laptop, or on an Android tablet or smartphone
- Microsoft Edge Chromium web browser on Windows 10
- Safari web browser on an Apple iMac, MacBook, iPad, or iPhone
A web camera, speaker and microphone should already be built into your device.
Choose the appropriate link from either the hospital clinic or community clinic pages.
Click Start Video Call and follow the instructions:
Wait in your own private video room. A receptionist will check in with you and confirm your personal details.
Your healthcare provider sees you arrive in the waiting area queue….
…and joins you in your video room when they are ready.
What do I do if something is not working?
Visit the troubleshooting page.
Video calls are secure. Your privacy is protected.
You have your own private video room that only authorised clinicians can enter.
Your information is not stored beyond the length of the call.
You don’t use any data while waiting for a clinician to join you. A video call uses a similar amount of data to Skype or FaceTime.
Video calls are free apart from any data you might use. You can reduce the cost to nil by using a home or work wifi network.
